Question strategies

  1. Vocab questions - Answer all 4 vocab questions first → can do these in 30 seconds
  2. Detail/Factual questions - Rephrase the question first Match ideas from passage with different vocabulary to express the same idea Identify by “according to”, “suggested”
  3. Author’s purpose question → author usually does something in support of some other point → look around this & see what point author is trying to make
  4. Sentence rephrasing question → Changing vocab but capturing all the ideas. Read the sentence, break it into ideas, study the relation b/w these parts (eg : cause-effect, reasons, opposite effect etc.)
  5. Negative factual - Cross out 3 True’s to find the False
  6. Sentence addition - Add new sentence into para → Look for words/phrases in sentence that tells you about location. Consequently, it has to go before & after something. Try to predict vague before-after expectations by these & just see best fit
